PURPOSE:A dentifrice, prepared by incorporating a specific alkylbetaine in a dentifrice for preventing gingivitis, pyorrhea alveolaris, etc. containing amylase enzyme, and capable of stabilizing the enzymic activity for a long term. CONSTITUTION:A dentifrice prepared by incorporating an alkylbetaine of the formulaI(R1 is 10-18C alkyl or alkenyl; R2 and R3 are 1-3C alkyl) or formula II [X is H or -CH2COOM (M is Na, K, NH4, etc.) or -(CH2CH2O)nH; m is an integer 1-10; n+m <=10] in a dentifrice containing amylase enzyme. The amount of the alkylbetaine to be added varies with the type, amount, etc. of a polishing agent, binder, humectant, etc. but is preferably about 1-5wt%. The resultant dentifrice is effective for the prevention of gigivitis, pyorrhea alveolaris, etc. due to the stabilized amylase enzyme. |
