PURPOSE:To provide a soaking pit of one way firing in the upper part which can heat small sized slabs, etc. as well to the highest possible uniformity by providing upper burners on the flue side in one chamber and on the counter flue side in the other chamber segmented by a central partition wall respectively and operating the upper burners in the respective chambers in combination with the flues in the mutually different chambers. CONSTITUTION:Two right and left juxtaposed combusion chambers 1a, 1b as one set are communicated with a partition wall 5 which is provided in the central part of a soaking pit and has combustion gas flow ports 4, 4' on the flue side and the counter flue side. Lower flues 3a, 3b are provided to the front or rear of the rspective chambers from the same side with both chambers. Upper burners 2a, 2b are provided on the flue side in one chamber and on the counter flue side in the other chamber. The burners 2a, 2b of the respective chambers are operated in combination with the lower flues 3a, 3b of the mutually different chambers. The above-mentioned constitution makes the uniform heating of slabs and blooms possible without addition of a large modification to the existing furnace. |
