In a method of producing heat exchanger tubes with fins running in the longitudinal direction of the tube, a metal block with bores is produced, a welding stop means is inserted into the bores, the metal block is drawn out in the longitudinal directions of the bores by rolling down to the final size and the metal plate is divided into longitudinal strips, each longitudinal strip having a material separation due to the welding stop means. Finally the channel is inflated in each longitudinal strip. Alternatively, the channels can first be inflated and then the longitudinal dividing can take place.
