A metal-encapsulated, gas-insulated, high-voltage switching installation has an arrangement for quickly opening a pressure-relief opening in the event of internal overpressures. For this purpose, an opening is provided in the encapsulation wall, which opening is covered by a thin gas-tight film which is highly sensitive to pressure. On the outside, the film is supported against the internal pressure by a mechanically rigid cover. In the event of a critical overpressure, the cover on which this pressure is exerted is moved away and the film can burst.
