A control system for a telephone exchange connection comprising at least one controller serving to control the connection and disconnection of lines coming into the exchange to and from an answering system. The controller comprises devices to connect a line to an answering system independently of call signals present on the line and either, if the answering system is in the idle condition ready to begin the message, to start up the answering system and, once the message is complete, to disconnect the line or, if the answering system is already in operation when it is connected, to re-start the answering system when it has returned to its idle condition once the message is complete and to disconnect the line only when the complete message has been resent to the line. <IMAGE> |
