The invention relates to an apparatus which has a centrifugal wheel (20) and is intended for machining workpieces by acting on the same with an abrasive medium. With desired intensification of the machining by increasing the abrasive-blasting rate by speeding up the centrifugal wheel, the abrasive medium becomes packed together to an undesirably high degree. By configuring the profile of the guide blades (25 to 27) of the centrifugal wheel (20) in the form of a channel or trough, said blades can be designed as guide channels and, by different inclinations of these guide channels with respect to the normal of the centrifugal channel, the desired dispersion range can be achieved. <IMAGE>
