PURPOSE:To obtain a skin cosmetic having excellent characteristics for practical use and improving effects on chapped skin, by blending a cosmetic base with a wax ester which is prepared by aerobically cultivating Euglena, a protozoan in a medium, adding ricinoleic acid, etc., to the medium and changing the medium into an aerobic state. CONSTITUTION:Euglena, a protozoan, is aerobically cultivated in a medium, about 0.1-5%, especially about 0.5-2% ricinoleic acid and/or 12-hydroxystearic acid is added to the medium and the medium is preserved in an anaerobic state for 1-4 days to give an Euglena wax consisting essentially of an ester of the fatty acid and 14C and 16C saturated alcohols. A skin cosmetic base such as cream, milky lotion, lipstick, foundation, etc., is blended with 2.0-50wt% Euglena wax to give a skin cosmetic having excellent characteristics for practical use (spread, affinity for skin, refreshing feeling, moisture retention and oily feeling) and improving effects on chapped skin. |
