Packing and laying protective underwater weighting mats - involves variable buoyancy platform slung between catamaran box hulls

The assembly is for filling and laying weighting mats (15) to protect underwater structures, such as pipes on the sea bed. A floating vessel made up from two parallel boxes has a lowerable fascine laying unit slung between these. The laying unit is a platform (4) in the form of a floating unit with regulated buoyancy. The vessel has a mat laying and filling device (14) on this. The platform bottom can be fitted with steering elements (6), for aligning it on a previously laid duct (19), each pref. with a roller (7). Handling and laying of heavy material from an unsteady base are made easier.
