PURPOSE:To raise the quality of printing by positioning a platen with a high accuracy for a front print type line printer by providing an interval detecting hammer and a detector. CONSTITUTION:A platen 3' provided with a detector 15 is always pulled out by a spring 9 and goes forward in the direction of arrow A toward a printing mechanism through a cam 10 by a motor 11 in contact with a tapered portion 8. When an interval detecting hammer 16 is provided in the face of the detector 15 in such a way that the intervals between printing hammers and the platen become the same, the hammer 16 comes into contact with the conductor detector 15 on the platen side, and the time taken then is measured in order to measure the distance between the hammer and the platen 3'. While comparing the measured value with a set value for the thickness of printing paper used, the platen 3' can be optimumly positioned. |
