PURPOSE:To obtain a recording paper which has an excellent ink-accepting characteristic, by applying not a fixing agent but a petroleum resin sizing agent of saponification type onto a raw paper which contains synthetic silica and/or salt thereof as a filler agent and manufactured at a specific pH value. CONSTITUTION:A raw material paper containing synthetic silica, such as pulverized silica, hydrous silicic acid and calcium silicate, etc. and/or salt thereof, as loading agents, is manufactured at a pH value of 6.5-9.5 at the time of processing. Onto thus manufactured raw paper, a petroleum resin group sizing agent of saponification type is applied, without using a fixing agent to obtain a recording paper. As for the sizing agent, solid content is to be used within a range of 0.2-2.0% per pulp. As to the coating agent for surface treatment, such as loading agent as starch derivative and water-soluble cellulose derivative, etc. and such a pigment as a composite silica, etc. may be used in combination. Thus obtained recording paper is capable of absorbing ink drops quickly and also of controlling spread of ink dot appropriately. |
