<p>PURPOSE:To run a magnetic tape stably by varying the coefficient of friction of the surface of a tape guide which guides the run of the magnetic tape according to the tape width direction, and providing a groove in the guide surface or tapering a guide roller. CONSTITUTION:An upper tape guide surface 11 has a greater coefficient of friction than a tape guide surface 13. A tape when running slides downward along the guide surfaces 11 and 13 by the downward component of the tension of the tape in the running direction, and the lower edge of the tape comes into contact with a guide surface 12. For this purpose, pins are provided to hold the running height of the tap constant. During the manufacture of the guide pins 14, the guide surface 12 is made wider than the tape, facilitating the process. When the guide surface 12 is lower, the coefficient of friction of the guide surface is increased toward the upper part. In another way, a groove 17 whose area increases toward the upper part or a tapered roller 18 whose diameter decreases toward the lower part is provided to obtain the same effect.</p> |
