PURPOSE:To provide an ignition apparatus for an internal-combustion engine, which is capable of raising the combustion efficiency of the engine, by connecting a distributor and ignition plugs directly by capacitors by the intermediary of insulators having a high resistance to voltage, and ionizing air-fuel mixture by applying high-frequency energy to compressed air-fuel mixture. CONSTITUTION:An electrostatic capacitor element 1 is obtained by opposing a pair of metal plates 4 by the intermediary of an insulator 5 having a high resistance to voltage, enveloping the same with a protective insulator 6, and connecting lead wires 2. A plurality of such elements 1 are arranged in a cap 7 of a distributor and connected to respective secondary-side terminals, or otherwise, lead wires 2 of the elements 1 are connected to the cap of an ignition plug 9. Although it is found that the element 1 is effective from the minimum level of 0.5 PF, it is preferable to select the electrostatic capacity of the element 1 at a value within the range of 30-50 PF. |
