PURPOSE:To prevent the local abrasion of upper, lower work rolls, and to make the rolling of rolling materials of different widths possible by the use of the same upper, lower work rolls by constructing the upper, lower work rolls to permit change and adjustment of the position separately in the axial centerline direction. CONSTITUTION:In a rolling mill consisting of backup rolls 1, 2 and upper, lower work rolls 6, 7, the rolls 6, 7 are supported movably in an axial centerline direction by means of the outer chocks 15, 16 mounted to the housings 4, 5 of the rolling mill, by which they are applied with work roll bending load. They are also supported by inner chocks 11, 12 which are restrained by nuts 14, bearing positioning rings 14', etc. The inner chocks 11, 12 are supported by extension beams 21 mounted to these and the above-mentioned rolls 6, 7 are moved in the axial centerline direction by the roll axial positioning devices (not shown) mounted to the other ends of the beams 21. |
