PURPOSE:To automatically reset a photosensitive belt without damaging the belt by moving the endless belt in the direction opposite to the normal belt running direction if the belt is continuously skewed in the transverse direction and stopping the belt when the belt is restored to the normal position. CONSTITUTION:If a failure is correction of meandering occurs, a synchronizing mark 16 is deviated from a synchronizing mark detection point 17c, and therefore, the detection signal from the synchronizing mark detection point 17c is not outputted though a motor is rotated. This state is detected to immediately stop the motor. The motor is reversed with the position of a bracket 14 kept in the stop state to run a photosensitive drum 1 in the reverse direction. That is, if the belt is skewed in the direction of, for example, an arrow E, the photosensitive belt is reversed to invert the skew direction to the direction of an arrow F because the position of the bracket 14 is not changed. The belt is stopped when the detection point 17c detects the synchronizing mark 16 during this reverse running. |
