A method of using sheet filter material 1 to make a compact barrier filter with separated parallel ducts 2, 3 of the filter material for clean gas and raw gas, whereby one type of duct 2 is made by the filter material being folded double to form a pocket 4 and the pocket being divided to form these ducts 2 by means of seams 6 which bind together the walls 1a, 1b of the pocket, whereupon a required number of such pockets are arranged to form between them the second type of duct 3. The filter material is provided with a plaiting of parallel folds which are localised so that they take up a position where one fold projects from the outside of each of the walls of the first type of duct 2. Pockets 4 are joined together by the plaiting fold 9 in one pocket being joined to the adjacent plaiting fold in the next pocket. Thus we have here a barrier filter whose ducts are formed of pockets 4 which are joined to each other via plaiting folds 9 of the type described above. <IMAGE> |
