PURPOSE:To decrease the seek working time, by storing an indicated track address to the 1st register and a prescribed return track address to the 2nd register respectively and then comparing the contents of both registers with each other. CONSTITUTION:A controller 4 receives an instruction from a channel device 3 and stores an indicated track address to a register R16 to deliver the track address to a disk device 7. Then a seek action is carried out to read or write a data. When the read/write process is over, the contents of the register R16 is compared with the contents of a register R28 which stored the return track address through a comparator CMP9. When no coincidence is obtained through the comparison, a control part 5 stored the contents of the register R28 in the register R16 at the moment when a timer TM10 completes the prescribed time. Then a seek action is given to the return track address shown by the register R28, and the coincidence is checked again for the contents between both registers through the comparator CMP9. Then the part 5 waits for the next instruction to be given from the device 3. |
