PURPOSE:To realize a parallel processes and to increase the processing speed for an optical character reader that reads the characters written on a slip, etc., by providing the image memories that store the readout character images in a number equivalent to the capacity of plural slips. CONSTITUTION:An optical character reader reads the characters printed or written on a slip, etc. through an optical scanning, and image memories 14 and 15 are provided to this character reader in the capacity equivalent to plural slips to store the readout character images. Thus an input of character images from plural slips can be carried out in parallel to the recognition of characters to the stored character images. In such way, the undesired discontinuation is eliminated for the feed of slips to increase the overall throughput. |
