PURPOSE:To improve information density and a response speed by using a single-crystal plate for optical image conversion which has both electro-optical effect and photoconductive effect, and a coating over one end surface for the transmission of write light and the total reflection of read light. CONSTITUTION:Write light 12 varied in intensity by operating a modulating element 15 and a deflecting element 16 simultaneously by applying a voltage between transparent electrodes 19 is scanned on a signal-crystal plate 11 for optical image conversion, such as a BSO, having electrooptical effect and photoconductive effect, thus forming a prescribed dot pattern. Of read light 13 passed through a polarizing prism 17, light incident to the dark-point part of the dot pattern is absorbed, but light incident to the light-point part is transmitted through the single-crystal plate 11, totally reflected by a dichroic coating 14, and then travels from the polarizing prism 17 to a Fourier transform lens 21 to reach a photosensitive plate 23, where it interferes with reference light 22 to form a halogram. |
