PURPOSE:To easily obtain fine particulate copper powder of high purity by a method wherein a copper-containing solution containing copper carbonate and hydrazine or a compound thereof are brought into reaction under heating. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution of copper carbonate is generally used as a copper-containing solution and hydrazine or a hydrazine compound is mixed into the solution. The mixed solution is heated to about 40-150 deg.C to deposite the copper powder through reduction. In an example, 200g of copper carbonate is dissolved into 4,000cc of water and hydrazine hydrate is mixed into the solution. The mixed solution is then heated at 100 deg.C for 3hr to obtain precipitate powder. The system is left to stand for 1hr, cooled and filtered by a glass filter at room temperature, followed by washing with water at pH 7, washing with acetone and drying. The copper powder thus obtained consisting of fine particles of 1mum in particle size and is substantially free from impurities. It is confirmed that the particles are spherically shaped. |
