PURPOSE:To feed an electrolyte smoothly and prevent a cell from swelling during discharge by arranging a corrosion resistant sponge metal in front of an anode of a flat type nonaqueous electrolyte cell and placing its extended periphery between a cell case and a gasket. CONSTITUTION:A separator 4 is arranged in contact with an inner face of a negative electrode 3 between an anode and the cathode facing each other and a corrosion resistant and continuously foaming sponge metal 8 made of aluminum, etc. is arranged in contact with the reaction face of the positive electrode 6. The extended periphery of this sponge metal 8 is compressed between a cell case 2 and a gasket 5. An electrolyte holding material 8 made of the sponge meetal is deformed by contraction in response to a swilling of the positive electrode 6 at the final discharge stage of this nonaqueous electrolyte cell, and the required electrolyte is fed in sequence. Since the electrolyte holding material 8 maintains a sufficient porous ratio even under this condition, the ion conductivity between both electrodes is kept plenty. In addition, an increased volume of the positive electrode 6 and the negative electrode 3 can be absorbed by the deformation by contraction of the electrolyte holding material 8, thus the cell can be prevented from swelling. |
