PURPOSE:To improve the dispersibility and the running smoothness and to suppress dropping-out of powder, by allowing a magnetic coating material, where iron oxide magnetic powder containing Co is used, to contain a higher saturated fatty acid and polyoxyalkylene alkyl phenolether. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic coating material where 0.1-5pts.wt. higher saturated fatty acid having carbon number 10-18 such as lauric acid or stearic acid and 0.1-5pts.wt. polyoxyalkylene alkyl phenolether is added to 100pts.wt. iron oxide magnetic powder consisting of gamma-Fe2O3, Fe3O4, or an intermediate compound between these compounds contg. Co. The product is coated on a base material to obtain a magnetic recording medium. |
