PURPOSE:To improve the dispersibility and the running property and to suppress dropping-out of powder, by allowing a magnetic coating material, where iron oxide magnetic powder containing Co is used, to contain a higher saturated fatty acid and polyoxyalkylene alkyl aminoether. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic coating material consisting of where 0.1-5pts.wt. 10-18C higher saturated fatty acid having such as lauric acid or stearic acid and 0.1-5pts.wt. polyoxyalkylene alkyl aminoether expressed by general formula (R is an alkyl radical, and A is an alkylene radical, and n and m are intergers and one of them may be 0) are added to 100pts.wt. iron oxide matnetic powder consisting of gamma-Fe2O3, Fe3O4, or an intermediate compound between these compounds contg, Co. The product is coated on a base material to obtain a magnetic recording medium. |
