The worldwide travel-plug adapter is an electrical engineering commodity. There are four different plug-socket systems in the world which are not mutually interchangeable because of their different shapes and sizes. These are: 1) the American system, 2) the Commonwealth system, 3) the South European system, and 4) the German system. If someone is travelling to America with their electric razor or charger for a dictaphone of German origin, then they need an adapter. In order to avoid having to carry a multiplicity of adapters when travelling through different countries, I have invented the worldwide travel adapter. This adapter contains all four plug systems stated. If, for example, the traveller is in America, then he just needs to move the contact pins designated America (6) into the in-use position in order to be able to plug the adapter into an American socket, while the other contact pins remain in the retracted position in the adapter. If he now travels to a Commonwealth country, then the American contact pins are moved into the retracted position and the Commonwealth pins into the in-use position. The apparatus plug side of the adapter can accommodate all the plug systems, so that this adapter can be used anywhere in the world. <IMAGE>
