An apparatus for measuring a parameter, for example temperature, is described, in which the transducer has an optical filter (6) that is exposed to a light source (2). The wavelength of the light shining through the filter (6) is a function of the value of the parameter (p) to be measured. The transducer also contains a fibre lead (8) for transmitting the filtered light to a spectral detector (10). The detector (10) contains a number of light-sensitive elements (22a to 22n), of which each is covered by an optical band pass filter (20a, 20b, ..., 20n). These band pass filters (20a to 20n) have wavelengths differing from one another. The detector (20a, 22a, ..., 20n, 22n), which transmits the highest output signal, characterises the special wavelength which transilluminates the optical filter (6), and thus the value of the parameter (p) to be measured. <IMAGE>
