In this machine, in which a number of shots can be fired at targets, symbol-designated by alphanumeric elements, with a slingshot device during a game, is provided with display elements visibly allocated to the targets by means of the symbols, which form a hit field and indicate the hits achieved during the current game. If a predetermined occupancy pattern is achieved on the hit field, an interrogating and weighting device generates bonus signals. The gambler can change the symbol designation of the targets, an influenceable symbol allocating device differently activating the alphanumeric elements of the targets and the display elements of the hit field. This makes it possible to place the targets to be hit for a preferred occupancy pattern so that they can be hit more easily.
