Parallel ducts (7) are arranged in a plane, which are centered on the centre of rotation. In the central intake zone, the vector wheel is open on the suction side in the shape of a circle (22). The drive shaft is arranged externally in the centre of rotation and does not project into the suction chamber. When parallel ducts are employed, sectors remain (7) on the circle area which are closed to the medium to be conveyed (8, 9, 10). At their ends, the ducts are narrowed (20) in the manner of a mouthpiece, in order to ensure continuous flow within the ducts. The vector wheel is fitted into a conventional centrifugal-pump casing having an axial inlet. Additionally, the system is capable, by means of a combination of two vector wheels, to draw in a liquid without the casing first having been filled. Moreover, by fitting a second discharge port it is possible to build a separating pump. If used in motor vehicles, it can be employed both as a drive and to reduce the aerodynamic drag. <IMAGE>
