Book and method for its production

The invention relates to a book, substantially consisting of a book cover and the book block. The book cover has a one-piece layer of cover material, and the layer of cover material is bonded, over its complete surface, to a layer of identical shape consisting of a reinforcing material. An additional subject of the invention is a method for the production of a book. The blank of the book cover is cut out from a web of laminated material, and the book cover is produced by folding over and bonding the folded-over parts. The finished book cover is presented to the book block in an adhesive binder and bonded to the book block, the layers of the book block having been cut before the adhesive binding.
