In the case of a recliner made of plastic, having a reclining surface to which a downwardly pointing circumferential edge is connected, the said edge merging into the individual feet of the recliner, the reclining surface, the edge and the feet being integrally formed and at least the feet having an angular horizontal cross-section at the corners of the reclining surface, a head piece having a supporting surface with a divergent inclination is to be used and is to be adaptable to the characteristics of different users, even though the recliner is to be produced in a cost-effective manner using simple tools. To achieve this, according to the invention a separate head part (3) is provided which has a downwardly pointing circumferential edge (8) which encloses the reclining surface of the head part (3) on three sides (9, 10, 11), the edgeless side (12) of the head part (3) facing the level section (2) of the recliner (1) and the two lateral edges (8a), which adjoin the edgeless side (12), of the head part (3) overlapping the downwardly pointing lateral edges (5a) of one end of the level section (2) in the mounted condition of the said head part (3), furthermore at least one stop (16) being provided in the region of the feet, situated below the head part (3), of the level section (2), on which stop there is supported in each case at least one stop surface (18, 19, 20), which is arranged in the region of the lateral edges (8a) of the head part (3), and the ends, which face the level section (2), of the lateral edges (8a) of the head part (3) being connected to the downwardly pointing lateral edges (5a) of the level section (2). <IMAGE>
