Composite profile sections (1) for the thermal insulation of window and door frames can be more rigid and have larger cross-sections if at least two insulating bodies, which are at a distance from one another, are formed in an extruded profile section (2), which was originally produced as a single piece, by the pouring in of a thermosetting or expandable chemical. Separation of the inside walls of the chambers (5, 6) which are to be formed for the insulating bodies poses not inconsiderable problems when 6 m long profile sections are used. According to the invention, the inside walls are made of a tube (11), which is made of a thermally insulating material, is to be inserted into the integral extruded profile section (2) via the end face of the latter and is guided inside the said extruded profile section (2) by means of web extensions (9, 10), the said tube remaining in the composite profile section (1) as a hidden supporting core after formation of the insulating bodies and helping to improve heat insulation. <IMAGE>
