The invention relates to a hinged weapon support, preferably for armoured vehicles. The weapon support is used for holding small arms which are used to engage external targets from the ballistically protected interior of the relevant armoured object. The weapon holder (9) is arranged centrally in a block (7) consisting of armoured glass and is moved therewith so that an excellent view of the target is always provided. This armoured glass block (7) is supported in a gimballed manner or in a universal joint so that a rectangular or approximately rectangular field of fire of large surface area can be achieved.
