The device for securing a rail on a support consists of a baseplate which has, on the rail side, an oblique support surface. The oblique support surface serves as abutment for a compression key fitted between the baseplate and the foot of the rail. The compression key has, on its upper side, a bolt guide, for a compression plate, whose projecting free end presses as a resilient holding-down clamp on the foot of the rail. The compression plate can be positioned both from above onto the foot of the rail and also from the side in the direction to the rail. The compression plate can be tightened by means of tightening screws.
