The aim and object of the invention are to automate the feed device for the processing of zip fasteners. This is achieved by means of two special spreaders which are guided, free of play, between two curves and a compression spring and the guide surfaces of the spreaders being distinguished such that the sequence of movement takes place first perpendicularly and then obliquely at an angle of 25 DEG to the perpendicular and subsequently perpendicularly again. The invention can be used exclusively for fabricating zip fasteners. <IMAGE>
