In continuous magnesium extraction by electrolysis with enrichment of an electrolyte with magnesium chloride, purification, introduction of the electrolyte into a battery of electrolysis cells arranged in series and connected together by transport channels, drainage of the electrolyte with the separated magnesium into a separating device, and accumulation and conveyance of the electrolyte for enrichment with magnesium chloride, the enriched electrolyte is mixed with circulating electrolyte containing magnesium deposited in the electrolysis cells, separated and subdivided into two substance flows, one of which is submitted for enrichment and the other fed into the electrolysis cells. Advantageously, a continuous multichamber apparatus is used which comprises chamber (12) for enriching the electrolyte with magnesium chloride, in whose walls a channel (13) is provided for the connection to chamber (9) for separating magnesium from the electrolyte via a channel (14) constructed in the wall of the latter, and a chamber (10) for subdividing the substance flow of the electrolyte into a plurality of flows, chamber (10) being situated between the chambers (12 and 9) for enrichment and for separation. <IMAGE>
