The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for generating hot water and for the simultaneous air conditioning of living space by means of cooling air. According to the method, a fan uses an air heat exchanger (3) to suck hot air from the surrounding atmosphere, which is cooled to the desired temperature by means of the cooler, the cooled air (7) being fed by means of cooling shafts (2) to the desired living space (8) and the heat stored in the liquid being fed to a service water system (9). According to the apparatus design, the air/water heat exchanger (3) is composed of a sound-proof exchanger system which is preferably made of plastic, is wound in a helical fashion and is fed with air by a fan, the fan preferably being arranged between a sound-proofing helical air/water heat exchanger arranged on the suction side and one arranged on the pressure side. The heat exchanger element (3) can be reinforced with air cleaning filters, humidifying devices and thermally controllable systems.
