A connecting element for pipes, especially steel-armoured pipes, which are arranged in a common longitudinal axis, consists essentially of a connecting sleeve (1) and a sealing collar (2) consisting of elastic material. The pipes (3) are surrounded by the connecting sleeve (1) in the region of their mutually facing ends. The sealing collar (2) encloses the outer enveloping surface (1a) of the connecting sleeve (1) and has annular projections (2a) which overhang the enveloping surface (1a) and the two end surfaces (1b) of the connecting sleeve (1) in the longitudinal direction and inwards. The unobstructed diameter of the annular projections (2a) is equal to or slightly less than the external diameter of the respective pipe (3). In the case of the connecting element designed in this manner, the connecting sleeve (1) and the sealing collar (2) are connected in a captive manner to form a convenient unit which provides a reliable screen against dirt and moisture even when it is just pushed onto the pipe ends. <IMAGE>
