In the driver circuit according to the invention, a pulse sequence (A2) for switching on a transistor (TR2) is transmitted potential-isolated via a switching-on pulse transformer (T1). One terminal of a secondary winding of the switching-on pulse transformer (T1) is connected directly to the emitter of the transistor (TR2) and the second terminal of the secondary winding is connected via two separate current paths (D3; R1, C, D2) to the base of the transistor (TR2). As long as a ''1'' signal is present on the secondary winding of the switching-on pulse transformer (T1), this signal directly generates a base current for the transistor (TR2) via the first circuit branch with the diode (D3). At the same time, a capacitor (C) in the second circuit branch is charged up. This capacitor takes over the base current for driving the transistor (TR2) during the pulse intervals of the switching-on pulse sequence (A2). This results in a static drive of the transistor (TR2), using only one switching-on pulse transformer (T1). <IMAGE>
