The invention provides a nut-and-plate arrangement and a process for producing the same, the nut having two grooves. In each case one inner side wall, which is located respectively next to the threaded hole, on either side thereof, of each groove is designed as an undercut side wall, whereas the outer side wall, which is further away from the threaded hole, of each groove runs parallel to the axis of the threaded hole. In the region of the groove, the metal plate, whose bearing surface is located on that side of the groove which is directed away from the threaded hole, is deformed such that in each case that edge of the metal plate which is directed towards the inner side wall of the groove is bent upwards and supported on the undercut part of this side wall, whereas the part of the metal plate which is located next to the outer side wall of the groove runs parallel to this side wall and rests on the same.
