Sewage-lifting system with blockage-free venting line for the pump housing, in which, once the pump has been started up, monitoring work can be carried out, after an adjustable period of time, as to whether the tank has been pumped dry or whether the pump is still operating and generating pressure, and in which the pump is switched off if these conditions are not fulfilled. Repeated starting-up chances for the pump, pneumatic measurement of the water level in the tank and of the pump pressure, the air in the measuring tube being expelled once every day and renewed.
