A valve-free metal can (10), which is designed for a maximum volume of two cups, is retained by a holder (11) and arranged above a burner (12) burning with a naked flame. The closed metal can, which is or can be filled with water, is provided with an overflow pipe (15) which has a riser portion (15a), a curved portion (15b) and a drop portion (15c) and whose free end is located above a cup for the hot beverage.
