The invention relates to a process for adhering textile fabrics (woven, knitted or the like) to a base paper, for example to a wallpaper, said process comprising spinning hot-melt adhesive fibres or threads into the textile fibres or threads making up the fabric, then placing the textile on top of the base paper, and raising them together to a temperature which is at least as high as the melting point of the hot-melt adhesive fibres or threads, so that the textile becomes adhered to the base paper. This avoids the previously customary direct application of adhesive to the base paper, which, after the step of adhering, requires energy-intensive drying of the combination (composite) of textile and base paper and which also leads to an appreciable squandering of adhesive and to soiling of the equipment required for applying the adhesive.
