The invention relates to a method for producing load-bearing lawns on a subsoil which is levelled by means of rough grading and into which a slot drainage with vertical drainage slots is incorporated, the slots reaching down into a water-diverting zone, in which method a lawn support layer enriched with aggregates down to a predetermined depth is placed on the levelled subsoil, and vertical dewatering slots are incorporated in this lawn support layer and reach down into the subsoil and extend transversely to the drainage slots. In the production of the lawn, in order to prevent an interlocking between the drainage slots and dewatering slots, on the one hand, and between the subsoil and the lawn support layer, on the other hand, which interlocking leads to formation of silt, and in order to improve the growth conditions for the lawn, the necessary work steps according to the invention area carried out as follows: first, the lawn support layer is placed on the levelled subsoil; water-storing aggregates are then placed on the lawn support layer, which aggregates begin to lead-off water when a predetermined moisture content is reached; the applied aggregates are worked into the lawn support layer down to the predetermined depth, which is smaller than the thickness of the lawn support layer, and only then are the vertical dewatering slots incorporated and, at the same time, filled with filler material; and, finally, fertilisers are applied to the lawn support layer thus treated and are worked into the lawn support layer together with the seed.
