Hermetically sealed container which contains >=1 of Na, Li, Na2O, PCl5 and P2O5 comprises >=2 Al components secured together to form a tube each open end of which is sealed by a lid which is crimped or clinched over a rolled edge of the tube. Used for adding air and moisture sensitive materials to molten metal (alloys) e.g. for adding Na to molten Al-Si alloys. Provides an improved hermetically sealed package which eliminates addition of contaminants to a melt.
