In a device for shutting off and ventilating a pipe conduit, a shut-off device (2) and an air inlet device (3) with individual shut-off elements (20, 30) are provided in series from the medium inlet side. These elements are coupled to one another via driving means (4) and via compensating means (5). The driving means (4) can be brought into effect on the shut-off elements (20, 30) in a separate first direction of actuation, while return elements (6, 7) assigned to each of the shut-off elements (20, 30) act on them in a second direction of actuation, in each case, opposed to the first direction of actuation. One of the two shut-off elements (20, 30) can furthermore be subjected to a load in the closing direction (r, s) independently of the driving means (4) and the return means (6, 7). The return means (6, 7) can furthermore be brought into effect on the compensating means (5) in mutually opposite directions. <IMAGE>
