A multilamp photoflash unit includes a housing member (11) having a back portion (23) with a plurality of flashlamp receiving cavities (27) and a front portion (25) which transmits light with the back and front portions of a polycarbonate material and sealed to one another to provide containment of particles within the housing member. A blue dye or pigment is preferably included in the polycarbonate material to enhance the light spectral characteristics. The photoflash unit is fabricated by thermoforming the polycarbonate material to provide a housing member with photolamp receiving cavities and a light transmitting front portion sealed to enclose the photolamps in the cavities.
