PURPOSE:To reduce the internal resistance of an alkaline battery by using an aggregated amalgamated zinc negative electrode, which is prepared by amalgamating zinc powder in gel-like electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:After a pressed molded cylindrical positive electrode 1, a separator 3 and a negative electrode 2 made of aggregated amalgamated zinc are installed in a positive can 4, the can 4 is sealed with a sealing body 6 or the like thereby constituting a cylindrical alkaline manganese battery. Here, aggregated amalgamated zinc used for the negative electrode 2 is prepared by adding zinc powder and mercury metal into a gel-like electrolyte, which is prepared by mixing electrolyte with a gelling agent such as carboxymethylcellulose, and mixing the mixture by stirring so as to make zinc powder to be amalgamated. |
