PURPOSE:To prevent the formation of rust during storage of a metal mold for centrifugal casting and to prevent the generation of casting defects due to in rust by coating a specific rust preventive coating film on the inside surfaces of said mold. CONSTITUTION:In storing a metal mold for centrifugal casting, water glass, starch, bentonite or the like which is dissolved in water or PVA, polyvinyl acetate, an acrylic resin or the like is coated on the inside surfaces of the mold to shut off contact with air, whereby the formation of rust on the inside surface of the mold is prevented. In the stage of using the mold, the coating film thereof can be stripped easily by heating or the like and therefore the preparation for the purpose of using the metal mold as a casting mold is simple. Since there is no rust on the inside surfaces of the mold, no gases are produced by the molten metal charged into the mold, and the casting is free from defects such as recesses, pinholes and the like. |
