PURPOSE:To increase the processing efficiency for an electronic exchanger or the like, by controlling a plurality of magnetic tapes with one magnetic tape controller without ineffective waiting. CONSTITUTION:When a rewinding instruction relating to a magnetic tape device 10 is given to a magnetic tape controller 3, a completion report reception section 13 is started at the device 3, and the device 10 enters the rewinding operation. Thus, the device 3 goes to a vacant state immediately and receives other instructions via a channel device 2 from a CPU1 for the execution. The reception section 13 monitors the operation until the rewinding operation of the device 10 is finished and when the rewinding operation is finished, the completion report information is transmitted to the device 3 and restored to the original state. |
