PURPOSE:To manufacture a nonmagnetic roll having enough strength, ductility and toughness by subjecting a steel contg. a specified percentage each of C, Si sol. Al, Mn, Cr, N, etc. to hot working and heat treatment under specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:A steel consisting of 0.30-0.50% C, <=1.00% Si, <=0.05% sol. Al, 17.0-25.0% Mn, <=3.0% Cr, 0.05-0.20% N, one or >=2 kinds among 0.05-2.00% Mo, 0.05-1.00% V, 0.05-1.00% Nb, <=3.0% Cu and <=3.0% Ni (Cu+Ni<=3.0%), and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities is hot worked at >=50% reduction of area and heat treated by keeping at 550-1,000 deg.C for 30min-15hr. Thus, a nonmagnetic roll having strength enough to support a slab, high SCC resistance and toughness and capable of applying strong electromagnetic stirring force to the slab is manufactured. |
