PURPOSE:To reduce the side of a pump and improve intake performance thereof by means of an auxiliary impeller provided in an auxiliary pump chamber and generating inverse thrust matching with full thrust generated by axial blades in a main pump chamber so as to balance the axial thrust produced on the axial blades. CONSTITUTION:An auxiliary pump chamber 38 is provided in a rear motor rotor chamber 26. An auxiliary impeller 40 of semi-opened and radial flow type, for example, is provided in the auxiliary pump chamber 38 and mounted on a shaft 20 of a motor rotor. In operation of the pump a portion of pump handled liquid is introduced into the auxiliary pump chamber 38 formed in the rear motor rotor chamber 26 from an opening at the rear end of the axial blades 16 through a path 22 so as to generate an inverse thrust against the thrust of the axial blades 16 under the action of the auxiliary impeller 40. Thus, the axial thrusts generated on the axial blades 16 can be stably balanced so that intake performance can be improved by a high speed rotation and the whole pump can be miniaturized. |
