PURPOSE:To provide a heat transfer surface having a simple structure, which is capable of producing, developing and removing bubbles effectively, by winding a wire member twisted around its axis and having a cross section other than a circular shape over the surface of a heat transfer member. CONSTITUTION:A metal wire 2 having a small diameter and an elliptic cross section is wound closely around the surface of a heat transfer pipe 1. The wire member 2 has a cross section with a major deameter d1 and a minor diameter d2 and is twisted around its own axis. The pitch P of the turns of wire member 2 becomes equal to the major diameter d1 if the member 2 is wound around the pipe 1 such that the turns are located as closely as possible to each other. With such an arrangement, cavities 5 and openings 6 are formed between the turns of the wire member 2 by the strain resulting from twisting of the metal wire, so that a porous layer communicated to the outside can be obtained. Therefore, bubbles produced from the heat transfer surface 1 can be released smoothly through the turns of the wire 2, and liquid can be introduced to the heat transfer surface 1. |
